Cloud Atlas and NYCC with Carrie and Evil Dead

This week we review Cloud Atlas and listen to clips from NYCC. Due to some recording issues, not all clips were salvageable.
But below, here are notes from Richard Purnell’s Roundtables at Carrie & Evil Dead.
Two big horror flicks we’re dying to see!

From Richard Purnell:

For Evil Dead, We had the pleasure of chatting up Actress Jane Levy, Fede Alvarez The Director, and Bruce Campbell himself! Jane was incredibly beautiful, and seemed very grounded and fun. I haven’t seen her in previous films, but I’ll have to check something out! She seemed to fully enjoy making the film, but had a few issues. For one, she did A lot of things she will probably never do again. Example, She had to be buried alive in a scene, and she HATED IT! she could only do a take. Other then that, the experience of making the film seemed well loved. Bruce was amazing, as expected, when he showed up! He was funny, honest, and seemed very excited for this new Evil Dead. If there is one person I’d trust when he said a remake would be good…It’s that man! Finally, there was Fede, whom co-wrote and directed this new film. Similar to Bruce, I trusted this man 100%. Why? Because he was wearing a Back to the Future t-shirt. I will ALWAYS trust anyone in that shirt! Anyways, Fede talked about his approach to the film mainly. He and Sam Raimi, original director of Evil Dead, wanted to work together for a long time. Fede, I guess, had come up with an even scarier new take on Evil Dead. The idea impressed Sam, and they decided to do it. Now, based on Bruce’s reaction, It seems like Fede might have pulled it off! Needless to say, I’m kind of excited for this remake. I never thought I’d say those words. After Evil Dead, the Carrie crew showed up! For Carrie, we all got to chit chat with Kimberly Peirce The Director, Julianne Moore, Chloe Grace Moretz AKA Hit-Girl, and producer Kevin Misher. Kimberly, whom is best known as the director of Boys Don’t Cry, said from the start that she was a big fan of the original book. Specifically, she loved the relationship between Carrie and her mother. This, plus a few other moments, was a key motivation to want to make the film. Now, and this is something everyone said, Carrie isn’t a remake of the original film. This new version is a straight adaptation of the book. Are we clear on this? Good! I did enjoy Kimberly A lot though. She seemed very passionate about the film, and trying to make it the best she can. Julianne Moore was very cool to meet. However, she had this hair sticking out a little bit. All I wanted to do was pull a mom and flatten it with my licked hand. Though, I’m sure violence or death would soon follow that action. Anywazzles, Julianne talked about the difficulty in trying to channel the character of the mother, and how much she loved working with Chloe Moretz. SPEAKING OF WHICH, I was so pumped to meet Chloe! She played, arguably, one of the greatest superheroes I’ve ever seen in a comic book movie! Also, after Kick-Ass, Chloe has been playing some amazing characters! Hearing the she will be playing the title role in Carrie, makes me genuinely excited for the film! Mainly because I know she’ll rock that role! Also, she is the right age of the character in the book!
